Elia Pellegrini details the methods and motivations behind his fantastical artwork.
This is the epic work of Elia Pellegrini, a 3D artist, photographer and video director based in Italy. In his commercial career he’s created art, concepting and effects for advertising, movies and music videos, but before art became his life, he was all set for a career in astronomy.
“I loved science and electromagnetism and thermodynamics,” he says. “I wanted to work in a large telescope in Arizona and study the black holes in far deep space so I could understand the physical concept of time.”
Now, he puzzles away at these concepts in art. In graceful space-age cities.

Artist Spotlight: Exploring Time with Timcet
Elia Pellegrini has the kind of raw artistic force that draws you into a hazy world of dreams and fantastical landscapes. Born on the cusp of the millennia, his list of clients is already long enough to get most 3D artists green with envy. He’s worked as a photographer with clients like Aperol and Capari, then moved to a 3D generalist position at Star Engineering Maranello, where he did work for Ferrari. And the list continues; he’s collaborated on projects for David Guetta, Pixar AND Disney, Adobe, and more. To call him prolific feels somewhat of an understatement. Did we mention he’s also a musician?!
Today, he’s working as a freelance CGI & VFX artist during the day and spends time off developing NFTs and his original Kairos universe.
Elia (commonly known by his handle @Timset) is a romantic soul who, through his art, wants to inspire others to create beautiful things. As you’ll read in this interview, you’ll notice one thing for sure — nothing is ever as it seems.

Elia Pellegrini è un talento artistico rodigino totalmente autodidatta. Ha iniziato a conoscere il mondo dell’arte già da piccolo, disegnando e fotografando semplici soggetti per divertirsi. Questa sua passione è rimasta solo un hobby per un lungo periodo; non aveva mai pensato di attribuire più valore o importanza ai suoi lavori e alla sua arte finchè non è arrivato alle scuole superiori. Ha frequentato il liceo scientifico, prima a Rovigo e poi spostandosi a Badia Polesine, ed è proprio in questo periodo della sua vita che qualcosa dentro di lui è scattato, portandolo dov’è ora.

È impossibile circoscrivere il lavoro di Elia Pellegrini a una sola parola.
Classe 1998, Elia ha cominciato il suo percorso artistico da giovanissimo, approcciandosi in primo luogo al mondo del disegno, soprattutto all’universo dei manga giapponesi.
Da lì non si è mai fermato, dando libero sfogo alla sua vena creativa, senza mai porle dei limiti. Così ha cominciato a dipingere, per poi passare alla fotografia e decidere di fonderla con la grafica, ha iniziato anche a dedicarsi alla cinematografia, realizzando stupendi cortometraggi che potete trovare sul suo canale YouTube, e infine alla musica.
Sembra che nulla sia in grado di fermare Elia Pellegrini e forse è proprio questa voglia di fare, di cambiare, di sperimentare, che lo porta ogni volta a realizzare qualcosa di straordinario.

Abbiamo avuto la possibilità di intervistare un artista poliedrico: Elia Pellegrini.
Classe 1998, Elia si è avvicinato al mondo del disegno fin da bambino, per poi diventare un visual artist.
Essendo molto affascinato dallo spazio e dal surrealismo ha deciso di fondere la sua passione per la fotografia con il mondo della grafica, cimentandosi anche nella realizzazione di splendidi cortometraggi.
La sua voglia di cambiare continuamente, di sperimentare nuovi stili e di cogliere al volo ogni possibilità che gli si presenta, sembra che lo aiutino a realizzare sempre qualcosa di straordinario.

GRAINS OF TIME
How would the future be if seen through the eyes of a child? The work Grains of Time by Elia Pellegrini contains the dreamlike vision of a young boy together with a more mature and realistic one – that of a man. The rhythm of the work is marked by the inexorable passing of time, defined by a clear beam of light that permeates the scene. With a surreal and fantasy-like atmosphere, Pellegrini highlights the small stature of the man in uniform against the uncertainty that dominates him.
